are following a deadly accident in redwood city. jackie sissel is live at the scene of the crash. we're pretty much in the heat of a commute at 68 am. does this seem to be affecting traffic at all? >> it is not really affecting traffic. there are several businesses in this area that the workers will be affected by. you could see the roadway on east bayshore remains closed. you can see police officers are still in the area investigating this fatal car accident that happened several hours ago. i don't think it will have much affect on 1 01 or traffic necessarily in that area. you could see some workers are being forced to walk down to their job. this happened earlier this morning when a single car driving down east bayshore lost control, i had a fire hydrant. a person inside the car was ejected and pronounced dead at the same. the car continued driving without a driver and it and ultimately crashed into a storage unit facility. not a lot of information on what caused the accident at this point daria. as they alert has been issued and 1 01 is just on the other side of those drums right there. ott
the murders of two seasoned detectives. cornell bernard is live in santa cruz. >> the city is a city in mourning today following the death of two police officers killed in the line of duty. when they came to a home here on north branciforte avenue, a suspect opened fire on them. investigators are still combing every single inch of this crime scene looking for evidence. the police community continues to mourn their death a memorial has begun at police headquarters for detective sergeant baker and his colleague, detective his bet butler. the officers responded to a home and were met with gun officer. they were killed. a half hour later, the suspect was spotted and chased by police. >> a chase ensued. gunfire was exchanged between goulet and a team of sheriff deputies and santa cruz police officers. the suspect was killed at the scene. >> right now it is a time to connect and support one other and listening and talking trying to set a tone for the next few days and weeks. >> the police chaplains comforting the families who are grieving, schools were put on lockdown for a short
